Instead of closing off rooms with conventional gypsum board walls, areas of this residence were defined by slim planes of wood and glass. Openness between the rooms was achieved while maintaining a clear visual definition of each function. Makore wood panels, etched glass, streamlined cabinetry and hardware define the interior. The existing dated polished marble throughout the apartment was honed, giving it a completely different character. The existing low ceilings prompted an innovative approach to lighting with much of the illumination coming from recessed wall fixtures.
