An existing modest guest house from the late 1960s was the launching pad for this project which consists of a 12,000 square foot addition.  The original structure’s classic modern design argued for its preservation and steered the design of the new construction.  Flat roofs, stucco, and white brick unify old and new.  Two broad axes of circulation, which intersect in the new foyer, help organize and unify the various sectors of the house.  Generous loggias screen the many rooms from the harsh Florida sun while providing views to the surrounding fields and paddocks.
